A tractor-trailer carrying beer kegs rolled over on Brockville’s eastbound Highway 401 off-ramp Friday morning, injuring the driver and closing off access to the highway as workers cleared the mess.

Ontario Provincial Police said the 53 year-old driver of the truck received non-life-threatening injuries and was charged with careless driving and making an unsafe move.

The truck, bearing a Coors Light logo, appeared to have rolled while entering the off-ramp, coming to rest on its side on the adjacent on-ramp and spilling its contents through the top of its trailer.

Workers did their best to clear the kegs as quickly as possible, loading them onto pallets that were then driven away.

The scene drew a crowd of onlookers up the slope on the sidewalk of the North Augusta Road overpass, while just beyond confused drivers discovered they could not get onto the highway.

The cleanup was expected to last several hours.
