Eastbound highway overpass closed near Hawkesbury due to ‘dangerous conditions’

Provincial police and the provincial transportation department have closed eastbound lanes of the Aberdeen Road overpass on Highway 417 due to “dangerous conditions.”

In a release, the OPP said it was called by a citizen at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday

The caller expressed concerns about the roadway,

Officers attending at the scene confirmed the pavement appeared the be “buckling.”.

“The eastbound lanes of Highway 417 were subsequently closed between Highway 34 and County Road 10.

“The Ministry of Transportation attended the scene, and confirmed the overpass to be structurally unsound.”

There was no estimate when the overpass will be reopened.
