Edmonton police believe murder suspect could be in Ottawa

Edmonton police have issued an alert that one of the top fugitives on the Bolo Program reward list could be in Ottawa.

In a message on X, formerly Twitter, reposted by Ottawa police, Edmonton police said they have “reason to believe Joseph Chlala could be in the Ottawa area.”

Chlala, 23, is wanted on a second-degree murder charge for the killing of Osama Ali, 21, who died of gunshot wounds in Edmonton on June 12, 2023.

Police said Chlala has connections in Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa. He is described as being five feet five inches with a heavy build, brown hair and green eyes.

The man is listed at No. 7 on the Bolo Program’s 10 most wanted list.

There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Anyone who sees Chlala is warned not to approach him but call 911.
