Environment and Climate Change Canada has posted an official “rainfall warning,” for Ottawa and region, as storms related to Tropical Storm Debby continue to march north.
The outlook is for “rain at times heavy,” with amounts ranging from 50 mm to 75 mm from Thursday into Friday.
Rain is expected to continue Friday, but at less intensity.
Forecasters are blaming a low-pressure system interacting with the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby, which began in Florida on Wednesday.
The storm system has moved through the Carolinas and continues on a northeasterly path.
“Forecast rainfall amounts could change and rainfall warnings may be issued as confidence in the track of the system increases,” the agency said.
