The start of Sunday’s edition of the sold out Escapade Music Festival at Lansdowne Park has been delayed for at least two hours because of heavy rainfall.

Ottawa is under a heavy rainfall warning issued by Environment Canada with 25-30 mm of rain expected alongside the possibility of thunderstorms.

Ali Shafaee, director of the Escapade Music Festival, said Sunday’s 1 p.m. start time has been pushed to 3 p.m.

“We’ve delayed our door opening until 3 p.m. just to get a better feel for the site,” he said, “then we’ll make a decision as we continue to follow the weather.”

Former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal, who performs as DJ Diesel, appeared at the electronic music festival on Friday. He was welcomed to the city by Mayor Mark Sutcliffe.
