Expired licence, no insurance ruins driver’s dating plan

Article content

Provincial police threw cold water on a Brockville man’s romantic plans Sunday when he was stopped on Highway 416 due to an expired licence plate.

The man was headed for Ottawa when the automated licence plate recognition (ALPR) camera alerted officers that the vehicle’s registration was expired.

Further investigation revealed that the driver had no insurance on the vehicle.

The driver faces a minimum $5,000 fine upon conviction for no insurance.

The OPP reminds drivers that the law requires you to have valid insurance on your vehicle before driving it.

If you can’t afford to insure your vehicle, don’t drive it.
