Ottawa Fire Services were called to a serious fire that destroyed a home in the the east end Wednesday night.
Firefighters were notified by a 911 caller who reported a home was fully engulfed in smoke and flames in the 5600 block of Frank Kenny Road.

Responders quickly confirmed there were no occupants inside the two-storey home. The brush at the back of the home had also caught fire.

This blaze was in an area of the city with no hydrants, so tanker trucks were used to bring water in from a nearby water source.
A hose line was kept on a propane tank on the side of the home which created a hazard for crews on scene.
Firefighters set up a defensive attack, meaning responders were not allowed to enter the structure due to the fire conditions.

The fire was declared under control at 10 p.m. An excavator was brought to the scene to move the debris to extinguish any hot spots.
There are no reported injuries.
A fire investigator was dispatched to the scene.
