The incident took place at about 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 5 at the intersection Labrosse Boulevard and O’Farrell Street, in the Gatineau sector, police said in a news release on Dec. 2.

Police were called to the scene of the collision, in front of 11 O’Farrell, where they said the drivers of a Toyota RAV4 sport utility vehicle and a moped had talked following a disagreement.

The RAV4 driver had not assisted the 16-year-old boy driving the moped before leaving the scene, police said, but the teen’s injuries “did not give rise to fears for his life.”

“According to the information obtained by the police, everything suggests that the driver of the Toyota RAV4 acted deliberately,” police said in the release.

Police provided descriptions of the vehicle and the suspect: The RAV4 was a four-door, with a spare tire on the tailgate and appeared to be a 2011 model; the suspect was described as a man, about 40, with black skin and brown, curly hair, who was wearing glasses at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident, the vehicle or its owner was asked to contact the Gatineau police info line at 819-243-4636, option 5.
