Impaired driving charges continue to climb in Eastern Ontario

Article content

Another 18 Eastern Ontario drivers face the holidays without their vehicles after they were arrested in the fourth week of the force’s Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign.

That brings to 83 the number of drivers in Eastern Ontario charged since the 2024 campaign began Nov. 21.

In addition to the impaired driving arrests, officers also issued 23 “warning-range suspensions, resulting in those drivers being issued licence suspensions and having their vehicles impounded.”

“If you suspect someone is driving impaired, call 911. You could be saving lives,” the OPP said in a release.
