People in Ottawa’s east end will see a lot of red flashing lights along the Confederation Line on Saturday as the city practises responding to an emergency on the LRTLine 1 east extension.

The training exercise will run from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 2 along the westbound lanes of Regional Road 174 between Blair Road and Montreal Road interchanges. Travellers can expect to see buses and emergency vehicles staged along the highway approaching the Blair Road off ramp. Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane during the exercise, which will take place at the flyover where the LRT track crosses over the highway and onto the median.

OC Transpo staff, Ottawa police, paramedics, firefighters and others will be involved in the exercise. The city is advising drivers to give themselves extra time if travelling through the area.
