First responders say one man is in hospital, while another person is in custody following an unspecified “serious incident” on Nepean Street Wednesday morning.

The incident was between Bank and Kent streets.

A suspect has been arrested for aggravated assault.

Ottawa Paramedics confirmed they were called at about 4:30 a.m. to treat a man for injuries inflicted by a “blunt object.” The man was taken to hospital in critical condition, paramedics said.

Police said on X, formerly Twitter, “there are outstanding suspects and no threat to public safety at this time.”

The message added that residents can “expect to see significant police resources in the area for the next several hours.”
