Men charged with break-in, theft and arson that caused $1 million in damages

Ottawa police have charged two people in connection with a break-in at an east-end business followed by the theft of unspecified goods.

The suspects then allegedly set fire to the business, causing an estimated $1 million in damage.

The break-in at the unspecified business in the 5300 block of Canotek Road occurred at about 11 p.m. on Feb. 21 this year.

The suspects were identified as  Edward Ayoub, 46, and Hamade al Mouhamad al RahMou, 24.

They were charged with:

  • Arson Causing Property Damage
  • Possession of Incendiary Materials
  • Breaking and Entering
  • Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence

Al Mouhamed al RahMou was also charged with ppssessopn of a Schedule 1 drug.

None of the accusations have been tested in court.

They were to appear in court Thursday.
