Naqvi’s constituents get a map of Canada — minus P.E.I. and Yukon

Yasir Naqvi sent his Ottawa Centre constituents a map of Canada, but it wasn’t quite all there.

The Liberal MP’s flyer to celebrate Canada Day included a photo of Naqvi holding a Canadian flag in front of a blank map of the country, but there was only one problem — two, maybe three, actually. Prince Edward Island, albeit rather tiny to begin with, is nowhere to be seen while the Northwest Territories and Yukon appear as territories without borders, one massive land mass in the north. Beyond that, it also looks like the borders between Quebec and New Brunswick, and New Brunswick and Nova Scotia have disappeared.

The original flyer invited constituents to colour the map and display it with pride, but Sunday on social media Naqvi was trying to paint a positive spin on the map that somehow got sent out despite the mistakes.

“#CanadaDay is coming! To mark this moment, we sent a Canadian flag to you to display with pride. But we made a mistake. The map is missing PEI and Yukon. My team and I apologize,” Naqvi wrote on X. “Please think of it as an interactive map to teach kids our geography, or to start to learn more about these amazing places. From my team and I, our best wishes to you for a #HappyCanadaDay!”
