OC Transpo has resumed most LRT service on Line 1 in the east end after part of the line was shut down just after 7 a.m. Wednesday when a single-car crash near the station caused a gas leak.
Inspections have determined the damaged gas line provided fuel to the switch heaters in the area of Line 1. OC Transpo said it is working with Rideau Transit Maintenance to determine the extent of the damage to the gas line and the required repairs.

“At this time, it is unclear how long repairs will take,” Renée Amilcar, the city’s GM of Transit Service said in a release Wednesday.
Amilcar’s memo noted that the damage repairs mean passengers still face several difficulties while a series of fixes are underway.
For now, Amilcar noted that riders travelling to and from Blair Station will need to transfer trains at St-Laurent Station.
Service from St-Laurent to Blair stations will be along a single track for the time being.
“R1 bus service between St-Laurent and Blair stations will continue to provide supplemental service to help keep customers moving,” Amilcar said. And E1 supplemental bus service will operate as normal during the afternoon commute.
At about 7 a.m., Ottawa Fire Services reported a single vehicle drove off Highway 174 W at Blair Road.
The fire chief in command had the LRT shut down and Enbridge Gas worked to contain the leak.
There were no reported injuries.
OC Transpo said LRT service between Tunney’s Pasture and St. Laurent was not affected.
The scene was declared to be clear shortly after 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, on the new Line 2, riders were briefly shunted to a single platform at South Keys Station because of a switch issue. That issue has since been resolved.
