OPP investigating single-vehicle crash Sunday that left a driver, 19, deceased

Provincial police are investigating a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning that left a 19-year-old driver deceased and a passenger with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers from OPP’s Leeds County detachment were called to the scene just after 3 a.m.

The officers had received reports of a vehicle in the ditch on Country Road 8, a few kilometres east of Hwy. 15.

The driver was a 19-year-old man from Mallorytown and the passenger was a 17-year-old man from Brockville.

The cause of the collision is still undetermined, police said.

The OPP is being assisted by a number of crash investigation experts as well the Chief Coroner’s office and the Office of Forensic Pathology.

County Road 8 remains closed between Harlem Road and Hughs Road, and will be re-opened once the on-scene investigation completes.
