There will be several security measures in effect, including:
- Presence of support teams including mental health counsellors this week and as needed moving forward
- Additional board staff
- The presence of police this week and next
- Ongoing collaborative threat risk assessment protocols with police as needed
- External locking of doors
- Delayed start to facilitate student arrival and support for Thursday, Oct. 17
The board was also providing an alternate transportation schedule, “which will result in delays,” the board said.
“We also know some parents may be able to provide their own means of transportation,” the board’s message said.
The school was closed Wednesday for a second day in a row after Ontario Provincial Police said there was “another anonymous threat of violence.”
It was the sixth closure in a month.
Police said they would not speculate on the connection of threats.
