OPP raid nets long list of allegedly stolen items

Ontario Provincial Police seized a large amount of allegedly stolen property in a combined raid Tuesday at a property in the Town of Prescott.

In a release, the OPP said it had received numerous reports for stolen recreation vehicles and construction equipment in the area  since the spring of 2024.

Members from the East Region OPP community street crime unit followed up the complaints and obtained a search warrant for a property on Wood Street East, Prescott.

On Tuesday, the investigators executed the search warrant, with the assistance of over East Region OPP units. One person was located inside and arrested without incident.

The investigators seized two ATVs, construction tools, a trailer, two kayaks, a boat, a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Police also located and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and rifle ammunition.

Matthew Beaton, 39, was charged with a number of Criminal Code and drug offences including:

  • Four counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • ·Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

Beatin was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Oct. 11.
