Ottawa beaches not recommended due to E. coli counts

Ottawa Public Health said Friday that the city’s four public beaches are not recommended for swimming.

Britannia Beach, Mooney’s Bay beach and the two beaches on Petrie Island registered high E. coli counts in the latest testing.

Heavy rainstorms frequently cause high E. coli counts, due to high runoff levels in an area.

Meanwhile, the City of Ottawa announced wading pools are closed for the day due to rain, outdoor pools may temporarily close if rain affects visibility.
