Fans came out in their hundreds to the EY Centre near the airport for the free winter edition of Ottawa Comiccon this weekend. They came wearing their finest homages to their favourite characters from TV, film and more, while collectors flocked to take home treasures from the event.

The winter edition of Ottawa Comiccon is a free-admission event, and this year some fans were able to make their way to the EY Centre on the new OC Transpo Line 4, running for the first time on a Saturday.

When Comiccon was last in town, in September, guests included Elijah Wood who joined some of his Lord of the Rings co-stars at a restaurant on Somerset Street.

Cosplay lovers had a chance to wear their favourite costumes as they walked the aisles of memorabilia and bought from pop culture vendors. Adults and children alike joined together to show their love and appreciation for everything related to comic books, sci-fi, horror, anime, and video games. The odd adult even stopped for a new tattoo.

Postmedia photographer Ashley Fraser was there to see all the fans who came out on this chilly Jan. 25 and to capture their enthusiasm. Here are some of the best costumes and most dedicated collectors she found at this season’s event.
