Ottawa firefighters battle blaze at single-family home on Gracewood Crescent

Ottawa firefighters quickly brought a fire on Gracewood Crescent in south Ottawa under control on Sunday afternoon.

Multiple 911 callers reported at 1:35 p.m. that flames and smoke were coming from the roof of a single-family home in the 300 block of Gracewood.

Ottawa Fire Services crews, upon arrival at the scene, confirmed that heavy smoke was coming from the eaves of a two-storey detached house and additional resources were sent to the scene at 1:38 p.m.

A “fast attack” was started and a hose line was moved into the home, with the fire declared under control by 2:15 p.m.

One adult was transported to hospital in stable condition, an Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson said. No details on the nature of the person’s injuries were immediately available.

An Ottawa fire investigator was sent to the location to find out the cause and origin of the fire.
