Ottawa man, 33, faces number of internet child luring charges

A 33-year-old Ottawa man faces several charges related to child luring after the suspect was arrested Thursday.

In a release, Ottawa Police Services said the force’s internet child exploitation (ICE), with assistance from a number of other units, executed a warrant at an east end residence, where the suspect was arrested.

Police said the investigation was initiated by information from Waterloo Regional Police Service in December 2023.

Francis Theoret was to appear in court Friday to face charges of:

  • Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication
  • Make child pornography
  • Unlawfully possess child pornography
  • Transmit sexually explicit material to person under or believed under 18 years for specific criminal offences

Investigators believe there could be more victims and noted the accused used several screen names including alexdagodd, alexfitness223, localtrapp3rr.

The investigation is continuing.
