Ontario Provincial Police said in a release Wednesday they were called at about 6 p.m. on July 12 to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 417 in Ottawa’s east end.

One of the individuals involved allegedly became angry and struck the other driver’s vehicle with a large object, breaking the tail light. That individual then fled the scene.

OPP members later located the vehicle and driver.

He was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief under $5,000 and dangerous operation of a vehicle

He is scheduled to appear in provincial court on Aug. 30.
