Ottawa man charged with attempted murder after alleged stabbing

Ottawa police have charged a man with attempted murder and a litany of other charges after allegedly stabbing a man on Montreal Road.

Police say the attack took place last Saturday at about 2:30 a.m. Police found a man lying on the 700 block of Montreal Road with “serious injuries” after being stabbed.

Mohamed Aden, 38, was arrested on July 22 and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and other weapons-related charges.

When Aden was arrested, police allege they found bath salts, fentanyl, hydromorphone, crack and cocaine, leading to an additional drug trafficking charge and a charge of possessing property obtained by crime that is under $5,000.

Aden is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
