Ottawa police identify victim in Herongate shooting

Police in Ottawa have identified the victim in Ottawa’s latest homicide.

Ahmed Salim-Al-Badri, 34, was killed on Heron Road on Thursday night.

Ottawa police say the investigation into the homicide continues, and had not specified on Friday morning if any arrests had been made.

In a Thursday night social media post, police said “One person has been confirmed deceased. There is no known threat to public safety at this time.”

“Officers found a man in his 30s inside a vehicle with injuries. Officers administered CPR and the man was subsequently transported to the hospital by paramedics where he succumbed to his injuries,” police said in a news release.

Marc-Antoine Deschamps, superintendent of communications with the Ottawa paramedics, said the call came in at 7:40 p.m. on Thursday.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries but died overnight.

Early Friday Alta Vista Coun. Marty Carr said, “Many witnesses have come forward. The scene has been processed and released.”

“I understand residents are concerned and look forward to hosting a much needed Community Safety meeting in the coming months,” Carr said.

Investigators are seeking surveillance video from residents and persons who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
