Ottawa police are seeking public assistance after forensic data possibly linked a vehicle with an unsolved historic homicide.

The Ottawa Police Service said in a release Wednesday that on June 4 patrol officers attempted to stop a black Ford Mustang in the area of Greenbank and Hunt Club roads.

When officers attempted to approach the vehicle, the driver did a U-turn and drove east on Hunt Club.

The vehicle was found abandoned several hours later at an unspecified site.

Forensic examination was able to “potentially” link the vehicle to an unsolved homicide.

Police provided no further information on the case.

Anyone with information on who may have been driving the vehicle on June 4 was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service homicide unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493.
