Ottawa police seek to identify suspect after cellphone stolen

The Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect after a cellphone was stolen at the intersection of Gloucester and Percy streets on April 27.

At about 2 a.m., a male approached the victim while they were walking on the street, grabbed her and stole her phone before leaving the scene on foot, police said in a news release Wednesday. The victim was not physically injured.

The suspect was described as a black male, 5-5 and 150 pounds, with a thin build and short hair with twists. During the incident he was seen wearing a black with grey camouflage Adidas zip-up jacket, black jeans and black jean pants.

Anyone with information as to the identity of the suspect was asked to contact the robbery unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5116. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca .
