Ottawa police seeking to ID individuals, vehicles for investigations of homicide and other shootings

The Ottawa Police Service has issued a series of photos and requested public assistance in identifying two “persons of interest” in the investigation of a handful of criminal incidents that are believed to be linked.

  • On June 4,  OPS patrol officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a black Ford Mustang in the area of Greenbank Road and Hunt Club Road in the city’s south end. As officers approached the vehicle, the vehicle was driven away eastbound on Hunt Club Road. It was later found abandoned.
  • On Sept. 9, shots were fired in the Tanglewood neighbourhood of Nepean. Multiple casings were seized and police officers found an abandoned red Kia Soul with several bullet holes in it on Brockington Crescent.

Investigators believe the same individuals occupied both the Ford Mustang and the Kia Soul, an OPS news release said Thursday.

The statement added that police had determined that the occupants of the two vehicles may be linked to the unsolved March 2021 murder of Leo Santostefano and another unsolved shooting on Lamira Street of July 18, 2022, that left another individual with non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the persons in the pictures or information relating to who may have been driving the vehicles was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493, or the Guns and Gangs Unit at ext. 5050.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at crimestoppers.ca.
