Ottawa police are seeking witnesses to a dramatic collision Saturday on St. Laurent Boulevard and Bourassa Street that left a woman in her 50s with life-threatening injuries.

Police and other first responders were called to the crash just after 3 p.m.

While few details have been released, social media video posts showed a white vehicle travelling at speed on the wrong side of the road on St. Laurent. The vehicle crashed into a hydro pole.

The crash caused a series of followup collisions involving four other cars.

The woman in the original vehicle was the only person injured.

The crash into the hydro pole also caused power outages in the area. The last customers had power restored early Sunday.

In a release Sunday, investigators with the OPS fatal collisions section said they would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage of this incident and have not yet spoken to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service fatal collision investigation unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2345.
