Overnight fire heavily damages Rideau-Vanier bungalow

A bungalow was heavily damaged in a fire overnight on Nelson Avenue in the Rideau-Vanier area.

Residents began calling 911 just after 9 p.m., reporting a fire, but could not see what was burning.

Crews arriving at the scene confirmed that the side of the building was engulfed by fire and issued a “working fire” call for more resources to the scene.

Fire teams advanced a hose line inside the structure, while others searched for any occupants.

The fire was under control at about 9:35 p.m., with no reports of any injuries.

A fire inspector has been dispatched to determine the cause of the fire.

A fire truck remained at the scene to monitor for any flare-ups.
