Ottawa police are asking people to be vigilant after pills believed to contain a poisonous substance harmful to dogs were found in the Rolling Meadow Crescent area.
On Monday afternoon, a member of the public noticed a “large number” of pieces of bread scattered throughout a grassy area frequented by people walking their dogs, police said. The pills were discovered inside the pieces of bread.

Officers went to the scene, talked to witnesses and collected evidence, police said, while City of Ottawa crews cleaned up the area.
The incident is under investigation, and anyone observing a similar situation was asked to report it to police.
