Ottawa police detectives have identified Husain Dahis, 26, as the man shot and killed in the 600 block of Trigoria Crescent in Orléans on Tuesday night.
The fatal shooting took place at about 8:30 p.m., an East Division spokesperson said.
The homicide unit was continuing its investigation and there had been no arrest in the case as of Wednesday afternoon.
By around 9 a.m. Wednesday, the scene on the residential street was mostly cleared, with only some police tape remaining near a community mailbox.
Neighbours in the area declined to comment, citing safety concerns.
In a news release Wednesday, police asked anyone with information on the matter to contact Ottawa Police Service homicide detectives at 236-1222, ext. 5493.
