Provincial police seek alleged serial gas thief in Embrun

Provincial police are seeking public assistance to locate an alleged repeat gasoline thief in the town of Embrun.

Police say in a release they were called Thursday afternoon for a report of a theft of gas at a station in the town about 45 km southeast of Ottawa.

Employees told police that when they attempted to confront the person, he intentionally “drove at them with his vehicle.”

“This is the fourth time the person has stolen gas in the past two weeks,” police said.

The person of interest is described as an older Caucasian male, with grey hair, glasses, wearing a black jacket, jeans and brown boots.

The vehicle was described as a silver Dodge Caravan with no front plate, large dents along the passenger side and Ontario dealer plate 093 DSV.

The plate had been previously reported to the Ministry of Transportation as missing.

Anyone who knows the person’s identity or has other information on the case is asked to contact the Russell County OPP at 613-443-4499 or OPP Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122.

Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000. Mention the incident is “Occurrence # E241518420”.
