Several families are at least temporarily displaced after a three-alarm fire ripped through a Nepean townhouse complex shortly before 3 a.m.
Ottawa Fire Services received a number of 911 calls reporting flames coming from the roof of a complex in the 0-100 block of Chesterton Drive.
Firefighters arriving at the scene confirmed flames were visible.
A second alarm was declared at 2:56 a.m., “quickly followed by a third alarm” at 3 a.m. to summon additional resources to the scene.

Firefighters began the attack advancing multiple hose lines onto the fire.
Firefighters began searching all the townhomes in the row for any residents still inside.
The complex consists of six townhomes and firefighters were conducting fire operations in the townhome where the fire started and two attached townhomes on each side as well.
Walls and ceilings were opened up to extinguish the flames that had spread into the attached homes.
By 4:06 a.m. firefighters had confirmed all occupants had escaped the fire.
Electricity was shut down on all six units in the complex.
The fire was declared under control at 04:29 a.m.
An Ottawa fire investigator is at at the scene.
Investigator has arrived on scene.
Victim assistance is on scene for the residents who will be displaced due to the fire.
There have been no reports of injuries.
