Schoolbus driver accused of sex offences involving young girl

A 56-year-old Ottawa school bus driver faces a number of charges following an investigation into sexual offences that occurred in the Centretown area involving a girl under 16 years of age.

According to police, on March 1 the accused, who was driving for a Centretown-area high school, dropped off all passengers before heading towards the girl’s residence.

Police say the suspected allegedly stopped the van and forced the student to perform a sexual act.

The student was then dropped off at her home.

He faces charges including sexual assault, sexual interference and Invitation to sexual touching.

He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Thursday’s announcement by police came less than two weeks after another reporting that a 52-year-old Ottawa man had been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching in connection with alleged offences involving a youth under the age of 16 in the Vanier area on Feb. 23.
