Collisions resulting in serious injuries to four people closed highways near Cantley and Smiths Falls on Friday afternoon.

Police from the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais said a 53-year-old man was transported to hospital after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a truck on Highway 307 in the Cantley area around 3 p.m.

While the man’s injuries were serious, they were not life-threatening, police added in a news release.

Highway 307 was closed in both directions between Ste-Élizabeth and Mont-Cascades roads, and detours were to be in place for an indefinite period, the release added.

The investigation of the collision was continuing, MRC police added.

Meanwhile, the Ontario Provincial Police reported that three people had been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 15 north of Smiths Falls.

Highway 15 was closed in both directions between Ferguson Tetlock and Kelly Jordan roads, and was expected to remain closed well into Friday evening, the OPP added in an online post.

“Please plan alternate routes between Smiths Falls and Carleton Place,” an updated post said.
