Environment Canada says a line of thunderstorms could bring more than 50 mm of rain to the Ottawa Valley, with Fitzroy Provincial Park, Pakenham, Galetta, Kinburn, Marathon, Constance Bay and Dunrobin under a severe thunderstorm warning as of Monday evening.
The weather agency issued the alert shortly after 5 p.m.
“Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches,” the weather agency said. “Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.
Meanwhile, Ottawa was under a severe thunderstorm watch on Monday evening, with Environment Canada saying conditions were “favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain.”
Environment Canada said thunderstorms are slowly tracking east over central and eastern Ontario, and “the primary threat is heavy rain approaching 100 mm within nearly stationary lines of thunderstorms.”
Wind gusts of 100 km/h and toonie-sized hail is also possible, Environment Canada said.
