OC Transpo’s St. Laurent LRT station reopened Wednesday morning after a five-day closure for remedial work to fix damage on some of its ceiling panels.

The transit authority’s General Manager, Renée Amilcar, said in a memo to council that trains are now running at all stations along the Confederation line, from Tunney’s Pasture to Blair station.

St. Laurent Station had been closed since Friday after OC Transpo discovered corrosion and damage on some of the ceiling panels. Amilcar said Wednesday that crews did the work necessary to fix it before the ceiling was inspected to make sure “all hazards have been mitigated.”

Tuesday, Amilcar said Rideau Maintenance Group had completed work on the station’s drop ceiling and was doing repairs to the concrete. Amilcar also said the ceilings at Parliament, Rideau and Lyon LRT stations were also to be inspected “out of an abundance of caution.”

OC Transpo is expected to provide another update on the situation Wednesday afternoon.

It was the second time this year that service at St. Laurent Station has been disrupted. In January, workers found concrete had fallen from the ceiling onto the tracks. The station predates the Confederation Line, having been originally built to serve buses on the Transitway
