Suspect, 25, charged in ByWard Market stabbing

Ottawa police were called to the Clarence Street area of the ByWard Market at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on reports of a stabbing incident.

Responders were able to locate a victim nearby. 

The victim had “non-life-threatening injuries,” a news release said.

Police said Wednesday afternoon that a 25-year-old Ottawa man had been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, carrying a concealed weapon and three counts of breach of probation.

The suspect was to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.

The investigation was continuing, the Ottawa Police Service said.
