Suspect in Carling Ave homicide wanted on Canada-wide warrant

Police in Ottawa are looking to locate man wanted in connection to a Carling Avenue homicide on July 5.

In a news release Tuesday, police said Kennedid Atteyeh, 23, of Ottawa, was wanted for accessory after the fact to murder.

The police homicide unit is investigating the shooting death of 28-year-old Adam Abdullahi Elmi of Ottawa at approximately 6 p.m. on July 5 near Carling and Kirkwood avenues.

Investigators believed Elmi’s death was targeted, they said. No arrests had been made as of Tuesday.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Atteyeh’s arrest, and police said Tuesday they believed he had left the country.

Police described Atteyeh as a black male standing six feet four inches (193 centimetres) tall and having dark eyes and short dark hair. Anyone seeing Atteyeh was advised not to approach him and to call 911 immediately, police said.
