Swimming at Ottawa’s beaches: what’s open and what’s closed

Article content

The city’s supervised beaches are open for the summer, but with varying weather conditions, it’s a good idea to always check the water quality before heading to the beach.

As of Monday, all beaches are open.

Ottawa Public Health collects water samples daily from the beaches to test for the presence of E. coli bacteria. When elevated levels of E. coli are detected in the water, it is more likely that other disease-causing organisms are also present. These organisms can result in skin, ear, throat or gastro-intestinal illnesses.
