Teen caught driving mom’s car at 70 km/h over speed limit on Highway 7, OPP say

A 17-year-old G2 novice driver’s vehicle was clocked at 70 km/h over the speed limit on Highway 7 in Lanark County on Saturday, the OPP said in a social media post.

Police said the vehicle the teen was driving was his mother’s car, which was impounded.

The car was doing 150 in an 80 zone, police said, adding that the driver received a 30-day driving suspension and faces a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving suspension if convicted.
