Teenager dead after Highway 17 collision between car, transport truck

An 18-year-old from Shawville, Que., is dead following a Dec. 13 collision between a car and a transport truck on Highway 17 at Storyland Road.

The OPP had originally stated that the driver of the car had been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but in an update Dec. 16 said he had been pronounced dead at hospital.

On Dec. 13 at about 5:30 a.m., Renfrew OPP and other first responders attended the scene, near Renfrew. The driver of the car had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The Renfrew OPP detachment and the OPP Technical Collision Investigation team continue to investigate, and anyone with information regarding the collision was asked to call Renfrew OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
