Three facing charges after weekend shooting in Oxford Station

A 31-year-old man from Oxford Station faces attempted murder and other charges after a Sunday shooting in North Grenville, Ontario Provincial Police said Thursday.

One person was injured around 11 p.m. Sunday during an assault at a residence in Oxford Station. A short time later several individuals were injured when a shotgun was fired at the vehicle they were in. None of the injuries was life-threatening, an OPP news release said.

Investigation, by the Grenville County detachment and the Grenville OPP Crime Unit resulted in three arrests.

The 31-year-old man from Oxford Station has been charged with: attempted murder; careless use of a firearm; discharge a firearm in a reckless manner; and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Following a separate investigation, he has also been charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 and sexual interference.

He was remanded in custody at a bail hearing Thursday and was scheduled to appear again before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on May 30.

Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man from North Grenville was charged with: assault with a weapon; uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm; careless use of a firearm; and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

A 30-year-old woman from Oxford Station was charged with: assault with a weapon; and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The latter two were released from custody and were scheduled to appear in court in Brockville on July 12.
