Tornado hunters say twister touched down in Perth Wednesday

The Northern Tornadoes Project says a tornado touched down near Perth on Wednesday.

Environment Canada also confirmed a tornado strike seven kilometres from Perth.

The Northern Tornadoes Project, based in Western University at London, Ont. based its findings on “video, radar and early damage reports.”

The Perth damage appeared heaviest in the Kirk Fewrry and Scotch Line neighbourhood.

Another tornado, part of the same weather system, landed near Brossard, a Montreal suburb. the group confirmed.

NTP teams are expected Thursday to go to Perth and London to examine the tornoado sites.

The tornado strikes put at exclamatio, n point on a day of wild weather Wednesday.

At least 32 mm of rain pelted the Capital, says Environment Canada.

Social media contained video of downed trees and fender-benders.
