A tornado caused minor tree and crop damage south of Spencerville on the afternoon of June 6, the Northern Tornadoes Project has confirmed.

A post on the site of the NTP, founded in 2017 at Western University in London, Ont., said a ground and drone survey of the area was completed on June 7-8, where a “damage track” had been documented by a member of the public.

No injuries were reported, the NTP’s online post said.

The storm was assessed as an EF0 on the scale ranging from zero to five, with five being the most severe.

The June 6 tornado at Spencerville had an estimated maximum wind speed of 115 km/h as well as a track length of 6.83 kilometres and a maximum path width of 250 metres, the NTP reported.

Powerful storms rolled across eastern Ontario on June 6. In Ottawa, heavy rainfall of 30 millimetres was reported at the airport, while other parts of the national capital received up to 44 millimetres of rain that day.

Spencerville is approximately 80 kilometres south of Ottawa.
