Several varying weather alerts had been issued by Environment Canada for the national capital and surrounding areas, including the Ottawa Valley, during the day Wednesday, but by about 9:45 p.m. only a few remained.
A severe thunderstorm watch remained in effect for Ottawa and Gatineau, plus Brockville-Prescott, Merrickville-Wolford-Kemptville, Winchester-Newington and Prescott and Russell.
