LRT service remains restricted at St-Laurent Station Saturday while engineers continue inspections of suspended ceiling tiles and concrete above both the north and south platforms.
Train stops at St-Laurent were suspended early Friday after a visual inspection indicated an issue with the ceiling tiles. An initial assessment indicated evidence of corrosion of some ceiling panels and potential delamination of the concrete, according to a memo from OC Transpo general manager Renée Amilcar to the mayor and city councillors on Friday evening.

There was no indication of a safety risk to trains, so eastbound and westbound service was to be maintained, though trains would not stop at St-Laurent Station. Ground-level bus service at the station remained unaffected, said Amilcar’s memo.
In a Saturday update, Amilcar said the work to complete the detailed inspections is continuing. Rail service Saturday will launch as planned with the rail platforms at St-Laurent station remaining closed. Bus service to St-Laurent Station will run on the normal Saturday schedule, with a shuttle service between St-Laurent and Cyrville Station.
For transit users, this means trains will run from Tunney’s Pasture to Blair Station on the normal Saturday schedule and will skip St-Laurent Station and bus shuttles will operate between St-Laurent and Cyrville Stations.
Route 19 will provide an additional option for transit users traveling east to St-Laurent Station from Hurdman Station.
Route 24 will provide an additional option for customers travelling west from Blair Station to St-Laurent.
Infrastructure and Water Services Department engineers are expected to provide recommendations on the best course of action, Amilcar wrote. “As always, we will be making decisions out of an abundance of caution with the safety of our customers being the priority.”
Further updates are to be provided as further information becomes available. Transit users were advised to check social-media media channels or octranspo.com for updates.
