Weather advisory ends, but snow and slush conditions remain

Environment Canada has declared the weekend weather advisory over, but officials caution that roads and sidewalks remain slushy in the region after almost 20 cm of snow fell in the area since Saturday afternoon.

Ottawa police and OPP highway patrol reported a busy night, although, fortunately, there were few injuries reported.

As of 8 a.m. Sunday, the temperature had soared to 2 C, although continued winds made it “feel like” -7 or so.

The forecast for Sunday calls for mainly cloudy skies with a 40 per cent chance of rain showers.

Cloudy conditions are expected to continue Sunday night, with a low temperature of -8 C with steady winds making it feel colder.

The weather agency cautions that weather condition will deteriorate Monday, with periods of snow beginning in the afternoon.

The wind is expected to pick up to about 20 km/h. The forecast high is -5 C, with a wind chill that “feels like” -15.
