Weather: More rain, possible T-storms expected in region

It’s going to be another one of those weekends, according to Environment Canadara

They’re expecting rain and lots of it over the next 48 hours.

In a special statement covering Ottawa and Gatineau and a vast territory ranging from Pembrooke down to Cornwall and the St. Lawrence and all areas in betweenhe agency says:
“Significant rainfall is expected this weekend.”

The forecast calls for local rainfall amounts of 40 to 80 mm.

At times, “rainfall rates of up to 40 mm in an hour,” the message says.

“Rain will continue this morning into Sunday night. The heaviest rainfall is expected on Sunday.

“Locally higher amounts in thunderstorms are possible Sunday afternoon and evening.”

“This weather pattern typically brings rapidly changing conditions between sunny skies and heavy downpours.”

Environment Canada also notes heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
