2024 Trees of Hope fundraiser for CHEO begins

As the clock strikes midnight on Nov.1, some of the most eager holiday fanatics begin to rip down their Halloween décor and compost their Jack-o-lanterns, replacing the spooky sights with colourful lights.

Those most excited to begin to decorate a tree can take part in the Fairmont Chateau Laurier’s Trees of Hope Campaign in support of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Foundation.

The event, which will take place on Nov. 25, invited teams of six to register to take part in a tree decorating contest, filling the lobby of the Chateau Laurier with Christmas cheer. The trees will be on display from November through January.

“Every holiday season, the Fairmont Château Laurier transforms into a magical wonderland for Trees of Hope, a heartwarming initiative that unites our community in support of CHEO. With a rich 27-year history, this annual event has become a beloved tradition, enchanting guests with its dazzling display of decorated Christmas trees and elegant décor,” Steven Read, president and CEO of the CHEO Foundation, said in a statement. “Helping kids these days reach their full potential is one way we can work together to bring hope and joy to families during this holiday season and beyond.”

All funds raised will go to CHEO, which supports over 500,000 children from eastern Ontario, western Quebec, Nunavut and northern Ontario. CHEO is the largest children’s hospital between Toronto and Montreal, employing over 3,200 doctors, nurses, other health professionals and staff.

Over the course of 26 years, the Trees of Hope campaign has raised over $1.4 million for the CHEO Foundation.

This year’s theme is the Nutcracker with soft blues and pinks, and neutral browns and greens as the theme colours.
